China’s organic Tilapi earns organic status

Dated: 1 March 2008

HQ Sustainable Maritime Industries (HQS) has had it products certifi ed organic. The company runs integrated aquaculture and fi sh-processing operations in the pristine island province of Hainan. It passed an initial annual audit conducted by Beijing Continental Hengtong Certifi cation (CHTC), a certifi er authorized by The China National Accreditation Service for Conformity (CNAS) and the Certifi cation and Accreditation Administration of the PRC (CNCA).

HQS has received numerous requests for organiccertifi ed tilapia products from major retailers internationally. “Being the fi rst major Tilapia producer in the world certifi ed by the Aquaculture Certifi cation Council ("ACC") as having achieved Best Aquaculture Practices ("BAP") for tilapia production, means HQS is committed to providing consumers with a superior organic-certifi ed product,” says Norbert Sporns, CEO of HQS. “We are the fi rst in China to achieve these new organic standards."
