The US Pharmacopeial (USP) Convention says the FCC Forum—the online vehicle through which USP revises standards for food ingredients contained in the Food Chemicals Codex (FCC) by a process of public review and comment—is now available on USP’s Web site at www.usp.org/fcc/forum/.
Feedback on proposed changes to FCC standards can be made through this free medium.
The comment period for proposed standards is open for 90 days.
The FCC is a compendium of internationally recognized documentary standards for the identity, quality and purity of ingredients found in processed foods, including colorings, flavorings, nutrients, preservatives and processing aids.
The current FCC Forum offers proposed revisions or additions to the 2009 supplement to the Sixth Edition of the FCC, including new and revised monographs, general tests and assays, and solutions and indicators.

After X5 announced that all new hypermarkets will be opened under the Karusel brand, Russia's largest food retailer, gained 3.2% in London trading. Wal-Mart has announced plans to invest around USD 1 billion in Brazil and open 80 to 90 new stores, in all its formats, in 2009. It will be the largest investment the retailer has made in Brazil since it opened its first operation in Sao Paulo in 1995.
