FrieslandCampina Ingredients to showcase innovations supporting holistic health, including cognition, gut health, and muscle & mobility, addressing growing APAC consumer demand for multifunctional health benefits
FrieslandCampina Ingredients, a global leader in protein and prebiotics, will return to toVitafoods Asia (September 18 – 20) in Bangkok, Thailand, with new, highly nutritious, and sustainable ingredients and concepts designed to inspire nutrition brands. At booth A31, attendees will explore innovations in speciality nutrition, including microencapsulated omega-3 powders, fermented and clear proteins, and highly concentrated prebiotics.
Pioneering plant-based omega-3s to bridge APAC’s nutritional gap
Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), an essential omega-3 fatty acid, provides multifaceted benefits including supporting brain, eye and cardiovascular health, as well as exercise recovery.1,2,3,4 Despite these key health benefits, intake remains low in many APAC countries, including India and Australia.5 To address this nutritional gap, FrieslandCampina Ingredients is launching its brand-new, algae-based, microencapsulated Biotis® DHA Flex Powders in Asia at Vitafoods Asia 2024. The range includes Biotis® DHA FlexP 15 with a 15 percent DHA load for vegan formulations and Biotis® DHA FlexP 20 with a 20 percent DHA load for vegetarian applications. Both ingredients are encapsulated in a powder matrix, which protects the DHA from oxidation and ensures a superior sensory profile with no ‘fishy’ taste or odour.
These new DHA powders join the Biotis® portfolio, which also includes Biotis® Lactoferrin for natural immune support and Biotis® GOS-OP High Purity, a concentrated gut health prebiotic, effective at dosages as low as ≤2 grams. Attendees at the show can discover how to leverage the full Biotis® portfolio to create next-generation supplements.
Visitors interested in learning more about the Biotis® DHA Flex Powders are invited to join Sophie Zillinger Molenaar, Global Marketing Lead Biotis®, during her talk “Master the art of omega-3 formulation with Biotis® DHA Flex Powders” on 19th September at 1:30 pm (ICT) in the New Ingredients Theatre. For further insights into this innovative range, participants can also visit the New Product Zone or participate in the Brain & Cognition Innovation Tour scheduled on 19th September at 2.30 pm (ICT).
Innovative solutions for holistic sports nutrition
The sports nutrition market in APAC is evolving, with consumers seeking multifunctional benefits beyond traditional protein supplementation. FrieslandCampina Ingredients is addressing this with solutions to support athletic performance, recovery, and overall well-being.
To target the gut-muscle axis, FrieslandCampina Ingredients will showcase Biotis® Fermentis. This novel solution combines whey protein, prebiotic galacto-oligosaccharides (Biotis® GOS), and probiotic cultures by fermenting them together. The result is a unique solution that delivers holistic benefits by nurturing the gut.
At Vitafoods Asia, FrieslandCampina Ingredients will present a variety of product concepts, including stick packs, ready-to-mix applications, and a new ready-to-drink (RTD) beverage using Biotis® Fermentis designed to support gut and muscle health while offering perceived improvements in mood and energy levels.6 Alongside this, the company will showcase Nutri Whey™ Isolate Clear, a pure whey protein that can create crystal-clear, protein-enriched drinks to cater to the growing demand for functional beverages in APAC,7 where 81 percent of consumers associate protein with supporting an active lifestyle.8 Nutri Whey™ Isolate Clear enables innovative applications like clear protein waters, shots, and gels, so brands can meet consumer format preferences.
Vicky Davies, Global Marketing Director, Performance, Active and Medical Nutrition at FrieslandCampina Ingredients, says: “Performance and active nutrition are driving progress in the APAC nutrition market.
