  • Ad/Vantage Smooth Brown Semi Extensible is Mondi’s innovative kraft paper developed as a high-performance base paper for demanding coating applications.
  • This natural brown kraft paper combines exceptional strength, extensibility, and a high puncture resistance with a calendered smooth surface.
  • It offers ideal protection for a variety of applications and high-quality printability for enhanced customer branding.

Mondi, a global leader in sustainable packaging and paper, has launched Ad/Vantage Smooth Brown Semi Extensible, an innovative kraft paper that combines exceptional strength, extensibility, high puncture resistance, and a smooth surface. Designed for industrial and consumer packaging applications, the new paper enables reliable protection and efficient converting – all while ensuring excellent printing and coating performance.

Positioned between traditional sack kraft paper and machine-finished kraft paper grades, Ad/Vantage Smooth Brown Semi Extensible has been developed as a high-performance base paper for coated and heat-sealable packaging solutions. Its calendered surface ensures excellent coating coverage and adhesion. At the same time, its smooth surface delivers superior printability – a clear advantage over natural brown papers with rougher surface textures.

The substrate was engineered over a three-year development period by Mondi’s kraft paper specialists, offering a unique balance of mechanical strength, puncture resistance, and smooth surface. This makes it particularly suitable for form-fill-and-seal (FFS) packaging used for sharp-edged or heavy items such as toys and dry food, spare parts and building materials, and other packaging solutions.

Made from responsibly sourced fresh fibres (PEFC or FSC®[1] chain of custody certification optionally available), Ad/Vantage Smooth Brown Semi Extensible as a paper substrate is recyclable in EU paper recycling streams, verified using the 4EG recyclability evaluation protocol (CEPI test method). Furthermore, the solution is designed to run on existing converting and filling lines, supporting process efficiency and consistent performance. Based on these unique characteristics, Mondi offers converters a recyclable and technically advanced reel material that can be used for a wide range of packaging solutions.

“Ad/Vantage Smooth Brown Semi Extensible fills a clear gap in the market by combining excellent runnability and high strength with coating-friendly smoothness in one paper. It is, amongst other purposes, ideally suited for use as a base material for our barrier papers, where a uniform, stable surface is essential to achieving consistent coating performance. This paper is the result of a close collaboration between our technical sales service, R&D, and product development – a strong team effort that reflects our commitment to solving our customers’ technical and sustainability challenges,” says Sabrina Klösch, Technical Sales Service at Mondi.
