Expansion is in line with the company’s vision to transform the US$ 12 trillion agriculture[1] industry with its crop varieties

Singrow, a Singapore-based agri-genomics firm that has developed a proprietary genomics technology platform, announced today its franchise farm partnerships in Malaysia and Thailand, TreeGrow Sdn Bhd and PREINO Co., Ltd, marking significant progress in its global expansion plans. The signing of the two Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) took place at the official opening of Singrow’s new farm and was officiated by Singapore’s Minister of State for the Ministry of Trade and Industry & Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth, Mr Alvin Tan.

Located at the Singapore Science Park, one of the most prestigious addresses for research and development in Asia, the Singrow Farm will serve as the company’s research and development (R&D) hub. Furthering the success of the Singrow Strawberries, the world’s first climate-resilient strawberries, the R&D hub will focus on developing other novel crop varieties through the same revolutionary technology to combat the adverse effects of climate change on farming worldwide.

Speaking at Singrow Farm’s official opening ceremony, Dr Bao Shengjie, Founder, CEO and Chief Scientist at Singrow, shared, “Today marks a momentous occasion for Singrow as we proudly launch our new farm in the presence of Minister of State for the Ministry of Trade and Industry & Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth, Mr Alvin Tan.”

“The Singrow Farm represents our unwavering commitment to innovation and sustainability in agriculture, and we are thrilled to continue our work in developing climate-resilient and other novel crops that can withstand the agricultural challenges of our present environment. Furthermore, we are excited to establish these agreements with our partners from Malaysia and Thailand and are on course to expand Singrow’s presence in China as well. Our collaboration with these like-minded partners will make our technology and crop varieties available to more farmers and growers in the region, and help us realise our vision of transforming the agricultural industry faster. These mark the first few steps, as we scale the commercialisation of our unique Singrow crop varieties, and we look forward to achieving global success together with our eco-system partners.”

The agri-genomics firm will also tap into ground-breaking technologies such as artificial intelligence in its agricultural innovation solutions. One example is the Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) scanner that was jointly developed with Scent Analytics, a group of researchers from the National University of Singapore’s Faculty of Engineering. This will be integrated into SyncGrow, a genomics-based farming protocol platform by Singrow that leverages existing genomics data and real-time gathering of plant health information to optimise the growth environment for crops. Designed to enable farmers to accurately detect plants’ health status, the scanner uses advanced technology to measure plants’ VOC emissions. It is a non-invasive method of assessing plant health and nutritional status, which informs farmers on the appropriate plant health intervention before any illness can be visually detected.

Originally started from a repurposed sports hall, Singrow is now making strides on the global world stage with its transformative agri-genomics technology. The MoUs with partner farms in Malaysia and Thailand will enable Singrow to increase the production volume of its climate-resilient strawberry variety by at least a hundred-fold, bringing climate-resilient crops to more countries while helping farmers improve their livelihoods through a more robust crop yield.
