April 2023 – Minebea Intec, one of the world’s leading weighing and inspection technologies manufacturers, is on course for expansion after a very successful business year. To be optimally positioned for this, Dr. Karl Sommer will take over the CEO position at Minebea Intec with effect from 12.04.2023. In addition, Peter Grimley will assume the duties of Chief Project Officer (CPO) and Munetaka Nakazawa, the duties of Chief Operation Officer (COO).

With the new C-level structure, Minebea Intec wants to position itself even more efficiently in the future and thus put itself in a position to react optimally to the requirements of the dynamic market environment. The company focuses on smart and locally adapted weighing and inspection solutions that ensure increased production efficiency and the highest product quality.

In his new role as CEO of Minebea Intec, Dr. Karl Sommer has clear goals. “Our clear ambition is to continue our successful growth course with our great team in the coming years,” says Dr. Sommer. “We will focus even more on our customers’ needs and expand our market share in existing markets with existing and new highly innovative products, as well as targeting new markets.”

Dr. Sommer emphasises that Minebea Intec stands out from the competition’s product and solution offerings by providing the highest quality weighing and inspection solutions. From incoming goods to outgoing goods, he says, the company is there to help its clientele with all their questions and individual requirements.

“The DNA and agility of a German medium-sized company combined with the strengths of being part of the MinebeaMitsumi Group give us a competitive advantage,” says Dr. Sommer.

The MinebeaMitsumi Group is a Japanese corporation with over 85,000 employees worldwide, with headquarters in Tokyo. The company is active in various industries and produces, among other things, high-precision manufacturing parts such as ball bearings or motors. Dr. Sommer’s predecessor in the CEO position at Minebea Intec, Hidenori Shimosako, will take a leading position with the parent company after three years of successful management in Germany.

Peter Grimley and Munetaka Nakazawa join Minebea Intec’s top management team

With Peter Grimley as CPO, Munetaka Nakazawa as COO, and a team of over 1000 employees worldwide, Minebea Intec’s management team aims for further growth. Peter Grimley brings over 30 years of experience in the industrial weighing and inspection industry and will strategically drive the business development, product management, and marketing divisions.

With Munetaka Nakazawa as COO, Minebea Intec will intensify cooperation with the MinebeaMitsumi Group and increase its production capacity worldwide by exploiting valuable synergies. “In the past business year, we set another record for incoming orders and were again able to significantly increase our turnover compared to the already very successful previous year,” says Dr. Sommer.

“The many global crises of the last few years have once again made it clear that efficiency, precision and resource conservation in industrial production processes as well as the localisation of value-added processes are more important today than ever before. Minebea Intec as a group of companies is optimally positioned to support its customers globally and with best-in-class solutions.”

Completing the Minebea Intec C-level are CFO Manina Kettler, CTO Axel Boettger, and CSO Nick Parsons, all of whom have many years of experience at Minebea Intec and will continue to be responsible for their functional areas.

He also gained several years of experience in the automotive industry in various positions and responsibilities within the Schaeffler Group. Dr. Sommer began his career as a research assistant at the university in parallel to his doctorate.
