Following its initial launch in the Singapore market on August 27, Blue Bottle Coffee has unveiled their exhibition alongside a gift shop, offering a showcase of traditional and theatrical coffee brewing apparatus. Situated at the newly opened LUMINE Singapore global flagship store in Raffles City Shopping Center, this marks the brand’s inaugural presence in Southeast Asia. The space also celebrates their partnership with LUMINE and the rich influence of Japanese culture on the brand. This gift shop and exhibition serve as the brand’s first step to a broader Blue Bottle Coffee experience planned for Singapore.
The gift shop will spotlight Blue Bottle’s innovative instant craft coffee and premium matcha offerings. Visitors can explore and purchase a curated selection of merchandise, including the smooth and flavourful Craft Instant Espresso (S$24), the indulgent New Orleans-Style Craft Instant Coffee Blend (S$24), and ceremonial-grade Craft Matcha ($51) from UJI, Japan. A variety of drinkware and accessories for enjoying Blue Bottle’s instant coffee and matcha will also be available for purchase, including an exclusive Singapore Tote Bag (S$39).
Limited time exhibition
From August 31, the gift shop will feature an exhibition that chronicles Blue Bottle Coffee’s journey over the past 20 years. This exhibit highlights pivotal moments in the company’s history, emphasizing its California Bay Area roots, expansion into Japan, Blue Bottle’s first international market, and the innovative steps leading to the development of its Craft Instant Coffee. This display aims to offer visitors insight into how Blue Bottle’s journey has been shaped by both its California roots and Japanese influences while also showcasing the brand’s commitment to innovation and its mission to bring exceptional specialty coffee to a global audience.
The exhibition features 3 unique brewing tools — Oji, Syphon, and the Nel Drip. The Oji Water Dripper, originating from Tokyo, produces a heavy body and layered, complex cup, often compared to an alcoholic spirit, through a slow, meticulously timed drip. The Syphon, crafted by HARIO, required precision and heat manipulation to deliver a rounded cup with an intricate flavour profile. The Nel Drip, also by HARIO, is closely associated with the traditional Japanese kissaten culture, offering a rich, transcendent cup profile through its slow-drip method and high coffee-to-water ratio.
Future plans in Singapore
Through its initial retail concept and exhibition, Blue Bottle Coffee aims to introduce its brand to the Singapore market and engage with consumers and the local coffee community. In the coming months, visitors can look forward to an expanded range of merchandise, perfect for the holiday season. Blue Bottle also plans to host workshops and educational coffee sessions within its space in the last quarter of the year, with an aim to offer consumers the full blue bottle experience in the future.
