Charoen Pokphand Foods Public Company Limited (CP Foods) has partnered with the Department for Empowerment and Development of the Life of Persons with Disabilities (DEP) and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) to promote a workplace culture of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) and empower its employees to reach their full potential at the CP Foods Spreading Pride 2023 event. The initiative aims to create an environment that celebrates diversity and channels positivity back into society.
Through its efforts, CP Foods is inspiring a shift toward embracing diversity, inclusivity, and equity amongst its workforce. By offering opportunities for all to display their potential, the organization aims to instigate positive societal change. A recently hosted seminar, the “CP Foods Spreading Pride 2023,” championed the theme “Embracing Diversity with Heart,” inviting thought leaders from global and governmental bodies to share their insights and inspire the assimilation of these values into work and life.
CP Foods‘ and CP Group’s Chief People Officer, Pimonrat Reephattanavijitkul, shed light on the numerous projects initiated by CP Foods to promote equality and diversity in the workplace through a variety of initiatives. These initiatives include the establishment of an employee LGBTQ+ club, the employment of individuals with disabilities at the company’s offices as well as support for disabled athletes, etc.
The company actively cares for approximately 10,000 migrant workers who work at its operational sites across Thailand. It offers a range of employee welfare benefits, including accommodation, healthcare, interpreters, and equal pay, as well as career growth opportunities for migrant workers. These measures ensure fair and inclusive participation in the company’s activities, leading to enhanced retention of foreign workers.
The company’s commitment to equality has earned global accolades, including the “UN Women 2022 Thailand WEPs Awards” for outstanding gender equality practices in the workplace, presented by the United Nations for the Promotion of Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women).
Pimonrat emphasized that the organization adheres to its core sustainable philosophy of “3 Benefits,” which encourages employees to prioritize the benefit of the nation and people first, with the following of company’s benefits. The CP Foods Spreading Pride 2023 forum, arranged by the LGBTQ+ Club, is a platform for endorsing diversity, equity, and inclusion and promoting the spread of positive energy in society. Key speakers included Pimonrat Reephattanavijitkul, Saranpat Anumatrajkij, the Director-General of the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, and representatives from the United Nations Development Program (UNDP). The event took place at True Sphere, Icon Siam branch, and was also live-streamed.
