  • The factory, which has a production capacity of up to 10,000 tonnes per year, is equipped with state-of-the-art technology for processing omega-3 oil

Natac Group (NAT), a biotechnology company specialised in the sustainable production of botanical extracts and functional oils with proven health benefits, has started up the omega-3 production plant in As Somozas (La Coruña), the largest in Spain.

The oil production tests began in July and were such a success that the facility is already manufacturing its first batches, which will be marketed in the coming weeks. The plant refines, deodorises, and bleaches omega-3 oils from fish to preserve their characteristics and quality and develops innovative ingredients for the food, nutraceutical, and animal nutrition sectors.

Natac’s new factory, located on a 28,000 m2 plot of land in the As Somozas industrial estate, has a laboratory and the most modern omega-3 processing technology. Thus, for example, technological innovations have been implemented to guarantee an oil of the highest quality and stability.

The plant, which has involved an investment of more than 18 million euros, has a production capacity of up to 10,000 tonnes per year of premium quality omega-3 oils, and when it is at full capacity, it will be operated by 35 employees. The facility is an example of sustainability, efficiency, and respect for the environment thanks to its state-of-the-art purification and atmospheric emissions control systems.

For the start-up of this factory, Natac has hired local workers with different qualifications, thus helping to fix the population in a rural environment and contributing to generating economic and social prosperity in the whole area.
