Meiqing Zhang, Vice President of Sidel Equipment Sales & Services for Greater China, commented: “We’re excited for CBST, showcasing a host of innovations helping manufacturers embrace sustainable, futureproof packaging. Customers, new and old, can also find out about Sidel’s expertise as an end-to-end packaging solutions provider and how we can support them reach their environmental goals.”

CBST (12th China International Beverage Industry Science and Technology Exhibition) brings together all parts of the beverage supply chain in China and is held at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre from 6 – 8 March 2024.

World-leading aseptic technology

The aseptic packaging market in China was valued at 12 billion US dollars in 2021 and is projected to reach a value of $20 billion by 2028[1]. Sidel supports this flourishing market with over five decades of experience with aseptic packaging and will be highlighting on-stand the Aseptic Predis, an integrated blow-fill-cap solution for PET bottles that incorporates Predis™ dry preform sterilisation.

Predis™ technology injects hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) into the preform just before it enters the oven. This means the H2O2 is activated by the time it reaches the preform heating stage, which ensures a high level of decontamination, minimising the sterile zone and blocking any risk of contamination.

Sidel is also celebrating the fifth anniversary of Aseptic Predis localization and its dedicated aseptic laboratory at its Beijing plant. During the 5 years, Sidel’s Beijing plant has delivered around 20 Aseptic Predis Combi to customers across China and wider Asia. The aseptic lab offers manufacturers in the region access to its expert team and features a testing area as well as cleaning and sterilisation rooms with nearly 60 sets of advanced equipment. The team can run preform and cap decontamination tests, hydrogen peroxide residual examinations within packaging, plus microorganism isolation and purification.

CBST firsts

For the first time, Sidel’s EvoBLOW XL with boxing kit will be on-stand – the company’s fastest blower for large PET containers, up to 10L. Available as a standalone or combi solution, EvoBLOW XL features flexible oven configurations with a wide choice of bottleneck dimensions, demonstrating its flexibility to handle many large bottles.

EvoBLOW XL also achieves high production efficiency with the highest market-blowing outputs, up to 18,000 bottles per hour (bph), and 98 per cent proven Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE). Sidel has now installed the first packaging solution line for water in the region, allowing customers to offer large formats of packaged water to improve the consumer experience.

Delegates can also discover Sidel’s futureproof packaging innovations for recycled PET, including StarLITE®R – a new, ultra-efficient 100 percent rPET bottle for carbonated soft drinks, launched in Autumn 2023. StarLITE®R allows CSD producers to switch to rPET bottle production with ease and efficiency while significantly reducing the impact on product quality or packaging integrity.

Similarly, Sidel will also be showcasing EvoFilm® Stretch, designed to offer manufacturers a new sustainable solution for secondary packaging. Complementing its existing packaging portfolio, the new EvoFilm® Stretch achieves 90 percent energy savings and a 50 percent reduction in plastic film[1].

On-stand, visitors can also find out more about the company’s Makro Labelling machines, which can label up to five items per bottle in cold glue, hot glue, self-adhesive, and combination versions.
