Joint pain is a recurring problem among adults, with about 93% complaining about joint and muscle pain between the ages of 45 to 59. Majority have said that this condition is severely impacting their life, affecting doing simple activities that require mobility and working out. Collagen is said to help repair connective tissue and its efficacy, particular with the use of SOLUGEL® collagen peptides, was recently put to test by the Florida State University, in research commissioned by PB Leiner.
The study showed that those who consumed 10g of the product over a period of 6 months had improved knee functionality and lower pain in their muscles and joints. The participants, who were 45 to 56-year old adults who spent at least 3 hours a week exercises like cycling or hiking, found daily activities easier to do as well.
Dr. Mike Ormsbee, Associate Director at FSU Institute of Sports Sciences & Medicine and the lead clinical study researcher, said: “This is the first and only study to examine the impact of collagen peptides on joint pain in this demographic group. The findings suggest they have protective as well as beneficial effects, supporting the growth and repair of connective tissue as well as reducing joint pain.”
Dr. Reyhan Nergiz Unal, Health & Nutrition Science Lead at PB Leiner, said: “We commissioned this research because such a huge number of fit and healthy middle-aged people suffer with joint pain – and the results show collagen peptides’ enormous potential to help this demographic. SOLUGEL® is a clinically proven solution that can not only support joint health but may contribute to the healthy functioning of your body, including muscle and connective tissue recovery and bone health.”
PB Leiner includes SOLUGEL® collagen peptides in its product portfolio of high quality gelatins and collagen peptides. SOLUGEL® is a digestible pure protein that can be integrated into a wide range of food and beverages.
