The Cesena-based company presents advanced technological solutions and sustainable packaging to improve the efficiency of the fruit and vegetable supply chain.

Sorma Group, a global leader in the design and production of integrated post-harvest solutions for fruit and vegetable products, joins the fresh produce industry gathering at Fruit Logistica 2025 (Berlin, 5–7 February). The company is set to showcase a wide range of solutions that combine technological innovation and sustainability, underscoring its role as a strategic partner for businesses in the sector.

Among the technological solutions on display at the trade show, there will be Aporo, a symbol of Sorma Group’s ability to offer effective and reliable responses to the challenges of automated packaging. Thanks to its multi-head robotic arms, this advanced technology can pack up to 8 fruits simultaneously, placing them in pockets with optimal orientation to enhance their visual appeal. This innovative system ensures precise and gentle handling of the fruit, significantly reducing labour costs. The machine, characterised by its compact and versatile design, is compatible with a wide range of fruit varieties, including apples, peaches, nectarines, plums, and kiwis. Additionally, Aporo enables direct packaging of fruit in cartons with pre-inserted pockets, ensuring maximum flexibility and efficiency.

Alongside Aporo, Sorma Group will present Hypervision, a state-of-the-art optical grading platform. Hypervision represents the cutting edge in fruit and vegetable classification, offering exceptional accuracy in analysing the internal and external quality, colour, and shape of the fruit. The system utilises nine cameras per line – 3 colour cameras and 6 NIR (Near Infrared) devices – to capture overlaid hyperspectral images and analyse each fruit by rotating it 360° under the inspection system. This platform ensures impeccable product classification, processing up to 15 fruits per second.

The latest version of Hypervision, introduced in October 2024 at Fruit Attraction in Madrid, features InstanDefect-AI software, upgraded with deep learning algorithms. This update further improves the detection of external defects and ripeness levels, ensuring even more precise and faster classification. Thanks to its Linux-based software platform, Hypervision offers operational independence, advanced cybersecurity, and a fully scalable system.

Sorma Group’s participation in the Berlin fair is also an opportunity to reaffirm the company’s commitment to a more sustainable future. The sustainable packaging solutions on show are another example of Sorma Group’s ability to meet the growing demands of the market. Among these solutions, Sormapaper stands out as an ideal option to reduce plastic use while maintaining lightness and durability.

This product line includes packaging made of paper and cellulose mesh, which is breathable, durable, and recyclable. It is available in various formats, such as Paper Vertbag and Paper Sormapack. The company will also present its fully recyclable Mono Polymer packaging line, including Sormabag, the lightest monomaterial net pack on the market.

The Sormacompostable line offers fully biodegradable nets, which are ideal for organic products. They are also certified EN 13432 for compostability. Additionally, the cardboard punnet with flaps from the Sormapaper line is a versatile and customisable solution compatible with standard filling machines, addressing the increasing demand for more sustainable alternatives.

The entire Sorma Group offering reflects an integrated and innovative approach designed to boost the efficiency of the fruit and vegetable supply chain and successfully tackle the challenges of an ever-evolving market.

“Fruit Logistica is, for us, a key international platform for demonstrating our commitment to technological innovation and sustainability,” says Mario Mercadini, Marketing Manager of Sorma Group. “With our solutions, we support our customers in improving process efficiency and in responding to the challenges of a continuously evolving market.”
