Lubrizol’s microencapsulated meltable magnesium outperforms other magnesium sources in bioavailability and digestive tolefrance 

Barcelona – A new clinical study confirms the exceptional bioavailability of MAGSHAPE™ magnesium microcapsules, a micronized and highly bioavailable form of the mineral crafted by Lubrizol Nutraceuticals, SL. Results of the study—conducted by researchers at Bionos Biotech, SL—demonstrated that MAGSHAPE significantly outperformed other commonly used forms of magnesium in enhancing magnesium absorption and did so without the adverse side effects commonly associated with magnesium supplementation.

Magnesium (Mg) is a vital mineral involved in more than 600 enzymatic reactions in the body, including energy production, muscle function, bone health, nervous system regulation, heart regulation, and DNA and protein synthesis. The double-blind, randomized, cross-over clinical study, published in Nutrients, involved 40 healthy men and women administered different magnesium supplements. The study assessed the blood levels of magnesium levels in volunteers after oral intake of MAGSHAPE™ microcapsules compared to other magnesium sources, including magnesium oxide, magnesium citrate, and magnesium bisglycinate.

Each sample was supplied in an opaque glass bottle with individual doses containing 375mg of elemental Mg delivered as an orosoluble powder. Blood samples were taken at 0, 1, 4, and 6 hours after intake of each magnesium product.

The study found that MAGSHAPE microcapsules significantly increased blood Mg levels at all tested time points (1, 4, and 6 hours). Additionally, the MAGSHAPE microencapsulation technology enabled a sustained increase in blood plasma Mg levels, maintaining higher levels for up to 6 hours post-intake. Participants also reported fewer adverse effects, including reduced bowel activity and gastric “heaviness” with MAGSHAPE™ microcapsules compared to other Mg sources assessed in the clinical study. Moreover, almost 70% of MAGSHAPE users reported satisfaction with their overall health compared to those on the other magnesium formats.
