The 9th A.A. Taste Awards was held last month at Tate Modern in London, UK. The event featured The 9th AA Taste Awards x BEST 100 in the UK charity event. In addition to the winners recognized in the BEST 100 awards, Minister for Tech and the Digital Economy, Paul Scully, attended the event. He encouraged the recipients of the BEST 100 awards for their efforts in promoting sustainable and additive-free food.

The BEST 100 awardees were announced for the first time, aiming to recognize international brands and products that demonstrated innovation and made significant contributions during the event. These brands have provided a positive impact on the industry, improved taste and experience, offered healthier choices, and greatly contributed to sustainable development. The inaugural list of winners includes international brands such as Blue Bottle, Nando’s, London Borough of Jam, Marmite, and Din Tai Fung. Dr. Elisa Pineda, a Doctor in Spatial Epidemiology and Public Health Nutrition from Imperial College London, shared future trends with the industry at the event. From her professional perspective on researching health dietary policies and sustainable development, she emphasized that health, taste, and sustainability can coexist harmoniously.

Paul Scully, the Minister for Tech and the Digital Economy, supported the sustainable and additive-free concept. In an interview, he congratulated all the winners of Best 100 and recognized their tremendous efforts to ensure sustainability and provide additive-free, natural food for people to enjoy. “Whether it’s restaurants, supermarkets, or D2C brands, those winners are all very special and leading the way.” Paul Scully said. Evelyn Lee, the chairperson of the committee of the year, also acknowledged the impact of the winning brands. She mentioned that the Anti Additive Clean Label Organization will follow up to assist the awardees in developing international channels.

The A.A. Taste Awards, recognizing the significant impact of COVID-19 on the world, returned to physical events after a long hiatus to fulfill social responsibility and give back to society. In the 9th A.A. Taste Awards, the organization partnered with Adopt a School for charity. Ten percent of the ticket proceeds and the revenue from on-site charity draws will be used for children’s healthy and clean eating education. This initiative aims to instill the values of pure and additive-free eating from an early age. Helena Houghton, the Executive Director, expressed gratitude to the A.A. Taste Awards and the winners in her speech at the event. The A.A. Taste Awards hopes to inspire more businesses and brands to embrace the additive-free concept, starting with food, to achieve a sustainable future.
