Coravin VinitasTM Addresses Industry Need to Reach Younger Consumers

SINGAPORE, 22 MAY 2023 – Coravin, the premier global wine technology company, revolutionised the way wine is consumed 10 years ago with the launch of its preservation system that pours wine without removing the cork. Today, the company is disrupting the wine experience again with the launch of its next industry-changing device – Coravin VinitasTM.

Set to debut at Vinexpo Asia 2023, the new device is specifically geared toward businesses with capabilities of fractionating standard-sized bottles into preserved single serves on-demand to address consumer needs of “trying before buying.”

Designed for wineries, distributors, retailers, and wine schools, Coravin VinitasTM is a revolutionary small-footprint device that can produce about 90 samples per hour using a two-component system:

  1. The proprietary VinitasTM device that transfers wine or spirits from a source container to single-serve samples without exposure to air.
  2. Sample Bottles are made from recyclable materials containing EnoloqTM technology that fill up through a novel bottle with a septum and liner.

Thanks to its tabletop size, the device is primed as a convenient solution for businesses to fraction wines using a controlled and oxygen-free environment anywhere and anytime in an industry with a growing demand for consumer sampling. The device also helps to reduce carbon footprint and shipping expenses by more than 85 percent, with capabilities of fractionating seven sample bottles per standard 750ml bottles on-site – thus negating the need for rebottling and the practice of sending full-sized bottles for trade sampling.

“Until now, there has not been a scalable automated product that creates single-serve formats and maintains the quality of the wine inside for months, as opposed to weeks,” said Greg Lambrecht, Founder, and Inventor of Coravin. “With Coravin VinitasTM, companies, hospitality services, and trade can sample and fractionalize any bottle, any time, on-site, ensuring the highest quality experience for businesses and consumers, no more needlessly shipping full-size bottles where only a taster is needed.”

An idea borne during the early days of the pandemic, the Coravin team saw an opportunity for wine businesses to send preserved samples to their trade customers and consumers whom they couldn’t meet face-to-face. The concept was also bolstered by the industry-wide challenge of engaging with younger consumers who typically prefer to taste-test wine options before making a purchase.

The Coravin VinitasTM is a solution for businesses through:

  • Trade Sampling: Increasing customer reach while reducing trade sampling budgets.
  • Wine Education: Providing students with the opportunities to taste exclusive wines from renowned producers without the need of purchasing multiple full-sized bottles.
  • Retail & E-Commerce: Recruit younger audiences by offering sample kits and single-serve bottles.
  • Virtual Tastings: Engage with customers and wine club members remotely.
  • Wine Clubs: Attract new wine club members by offering mailing list subscribers a kit with samples of the latest offerings.

Prior to its official release, the Coravin team spent more than eighteen months building and testing the Coravin VinitasTM fractionalization device with wineries, retailers, and wine schools around the world. The list includes Napa Valley Wine Academy, Langton’s, Ceretto, Château Montelena, ONX, Alkina, Stéphane Derenoncourt of Domaine de l’A, Château Haut Bailly, Tooth & Nail Wine Co., Justin Leone, and more. Culminating with in-house tests conducted by Coravin’s in-house teams and third-party labs, the results revealed a consistency of up to 12 months of preservation for each Sample Bottle.

“During the early days of the pandemic, we spotted a gap in the market for this type of self-use fractionalization device that would allow our customers to send samples, preserved for months, to their trade customers and consumers,” said Chris Ladd, Coravin CEO. “Since then, we have continued to see the wine industry struggle to connect with a younger consumer audience who have far more options to choose from than previous generations. “Coravin VinitasTM addresses this need and is primed to change the way the world consumes wine.”
