“This new Innovation Center represents a significant commitment to our innovation locally,” said Henry Liu, Vice President, Lubrizol Asia Pacific. “By bringing together expertise across Lubrizol and our partners, this collaborative facility will enable acceleration of technologies that meet the region’s evolving needs, turning shared innovation into breakthrough solutions that solve real-world challenges.”

“Singapore plays a pivotal role in our global innovation network because of its robust R&D ecosystem and unique environment that enables innovation to thrive,” said Rebecca Liebert, President and CEO of Lubrizol. “This strategic Innovation Center provides proximity to key stakeholders and fosters collaboration to progress innovations that contribute to industry transformation and economic growth.”

A history of market-relevant innovations

Lubrizol’s commitment to local innovation has been a cornerstone of its more than 65 years in the Asia Pacific. To stay ahead of evolving regulatory landscapes and transportation trends, Lubrizol continues to employ and invest in a strong base of in-region innovators — professionals with deep technical expertise and decades of experience — who are focused on developing next-generation technologies. The Center joins the recent establishment of Lubrizol’s Asia Pacific Center of Excellence for Suncare Formulation in Singapore, which has earned recognition from leading global beauty and personal care brands for its technical excellence and market leadership.

Growing as partners in progress

As part of the launch, Lubrizol signed two Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) with United Oil Company, a joint venture with oil major Repsol, which manufactures lubricants and specialty fluids for the automotive, industrial, and marine industries, and the EDB. The United Oil MOU aims to explore joint innovation opportunities and expand market reach through collaborative product development, while the Singapore Economic Development Board MOU outlines a shared commitment to advance innovation and explore future investment opportunities over the next five years.

These partnerships reflect Lubrizol’s long-term vision to grow with the region through meaningful collaboration and value creation, creating new opportunities for jobs in commercial, technical, and R&D roles.

Mr. Lim Wey-Len, Executive Vice President at the EDB, said, “Lubrizol’s new Innovation Centre is a strong endorsement of Singapore’s position as a launchpad for innovation, sustainability, and advanced manufacturing. As a leading player in specialty chemicals, Lubrizol’s decision to anchor R&D activities here also reinforces Singapore’s role as a trusted partner for companies in the energy and chemicals sector seeking to develop next-generation, sustainable solutions.

This latest investment deepens Lubrizol’s longstanding partnership with Singapore and reflects the strength of our specialty chemicals ecosystem. The Centre will also foster collaborative R&D and create high-quality jobs for Singaporeans. We welcome like-minded companies to tap into Singapore’s talent, infrastructure, and R&D capabilities as we grow into a global hub for advanced materials and sustainable industrial solutions.”
