According to the Future Institute in Frankfurt, health is among the 12 megatrends that influence our daily life and lifestyles. There is a heightened focus on nutrition, and in particular on consuming more plant-based products to support health. This is why there’s a spotlight on vegan and vegetarian dietsas these offer a multitude of health benefits, like lower cholesterol levels and decreased risk of getting type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease.

To answer the current needs of the market, SternVitamin has introduced new items to its product portfolio of premixes. These target specific needs and issues in bone health, gut health or the immune system, to name a few.

SternVitalityV and SternDefenceV are both filled with vitamins, minerals, botanicals and B-vitamins. The former, a coffee oat mix, helps reduce fatigue and improve mental performance. SternDefenceV, on the other hand, contains immunomodulators that boost the immune system and protect cells from oxidative stress.

These two additions join the current portfolio, which includes the SternBonesV. This contains vegan vitamin D3, K2 and calcium that promotes bone health. Another offering is SternHeartV a flavonol-rich cocoa that targets cardiovascular health with its vitamin K1 and C content.

Premixes are incorporated in beverages, nutritional supplements and food products. Recently, they have been added to plant-based meat and fish alternatives too. These provide Vitamin B12, D, E, selenium, iron and omega-3 fatty acid DHA, which are found in traditional meat sources.

“Customer interest in micronutrient premixes for plant-based products is growing,” notes SternVitamin Product Manager Dr Christina Mesch. “So together with our sister company Planteneers we have developed further concepts for plant-based drinks that address the current health trend.”

SternVitamin GmbH & Co. KG is based in Hamburg, Germany and is in the business of producing individual vitamin and mineral mixes for its clients and the consumer market.
