Oma-Kaki, which is a playful combination of the Singlish word for “friend” (“kaki”) and the Japanese term for “chef’s choice” (“omakase”), is a collaboration with three renowned chefs to co-create exclusive menus that will be launched throughout 2024. These chefs are illustrious Chef Maxine Ngooi, culinary innovator Chef Jordi Noguera, and legendary Chef Damian D’Silva.

Redefining the Workplace with A Symphony of Flavours

By delivering exclusive culinary experiences to the workplaces of its customers, Sodexo aims to challenge the traditional landscape of institutional catering.

“I am thrilled that we have teamed up with not one, but three very talented Chefs, each of whom will bring their distinctive style to their menu for the workplace,” says Abel Ariza, Managing Director of Sodexo MYSG. “Oma-Kaki will not only elevate the workplace dining experience but also create a platform for employees to connect, celebrate, and build stronger relationships with each other.”

Each chef will curate a unique menu, available for a limited time to Sodexo’s customers and their employees:

  • Chef Maxine Ngooi (March 2024, International Women’s Day): Kicking off the Oma-Kaki experience is Chef Maxine Ngooi’s menu, which will be launched on International Women’s Day on 08 March 2024. Her sweet and savoury creations will showcase her culinary talent and diverse global flavours and push the spirit of empowerment through flavours enjoyed by many.
  • Chef Jordi Noguera (April 2024, Earth Day): Known for his plant-based cuisine with Spanish twists, Chef Jordi’s menu will highlight his dedication to using fresh ingredients to celebrate his Spanish and Catalan roots. It will be launched on Earth Day on 22 April 2024.
  • Chef Damian D’Silva (December 2024, Christmas Season): Chef Damian’s menu, available around the Christmas season, promises to combine traditional Christmas flavours with a distinctive twist inspired by his Peranakan heritage. It will offer a delicious and culturally enriching experience for employees to celebrate the season and connect with colleagues in a truly memorable way.

Abel further emphasises Sodexo’s commitment to cultural understanding and inclusivity: “Food has the incredible ability to connect people across cultures and backgrounds. Oma-Kaki reflects our dedication to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace where everyone feels valued and appreciated.”

More than just a meal

As the face of the modern workplace constantly evolves and becomes more diverse and multigenerational, Sodexo recognises the importance of fostering a positive and engaging environment for employees.

“Keeping today’s multigenerational workforce engaged and satisfied can be challenging. As workplaces evolve faster than ever, it is important for organisations to create an environment that is positive and inclusive,” said Jaspreet Kaur, Head of Marketing & Strategic Planning. “That is why we want to help our customers create transformative experiences for their employees. With Oma-Kaki, we hope to foster a sense of pride and community in the workplace, ultimately contributing to a more engaging work environment for all.”
