In a bid to promote better food safety and quality across the cold chain segment, SpotSee has launched a new label as part of its temperature monitoring product line. The Do Not Refreeze label helps manufacturers and handlers quickly identify the status of temperature-sensitive products.
The label is placed on the packaging at the point of manufacture or before it is put in a commercial freezer. When the temperature drops below -15 degrees Celsius, the label automatically shows a “Do Not Refreeze” text in dark blue to indicate that the product has already been frozen when it will be taken out. Food quality can be compromised if food is frozen, thawed and then frozen again, so this label with color-changing feature is a great addition.
It also includes a chart that allows handlers to track the date and time at each point of the supply chain. It is single-use and approved for indirect food contact.
“It’s critical that food is properly transported and stored throughout the farm-to-fork supply chain to maintain integrity,” said Reuben Isbitsky, temperature business director, SpotSee. “With the Do Not Refreeze label, food handlers are now able to identify if food products have been previously frozen and should not be refrozen in order to maintain the quality and safety of the product.”
SpotSee provides innovative and optimised systems for the logistics and cold chain segment. It offers a host of IoT/M2M, mechanical and chemical solutions that automatically detect environment changes crucial to production. These include temperature, vibration, impact, tilt and humidity.
