In order to streamline the beverage supply chain in north America, independent can maker and filler Vobev is setting up a new manufacturing facility. Opening in Q4 2010, this site will cover 1.2 million square feet in Utah.
This factory will feature an improved supply chain, wherein clients can expect processing to be 5 times faster. Because of the upgraded efficiency, lead time can be shortened to 10 weeks and the facility can accommodate different can sizes too. The site can also help contribute to sustainability goals as the company aims to decrease the overall carbon footprint by utilising solar power, warehouse automation and water reclamation in the future.
Besides manufacturing, Vobev plans to make the facility into an incubation site for innovation in North America. Clients will be able to do everything in one place – from creating beverages, to designing the packaging, processing, filling, sorting and then shipping.
“Opening an integrated, independent canned beverage manufacturing and development facility that is the quickest-to-market is an incredible team accomplishment,” said Eric Cudnohoske, General Manager of Vobev. “We have taken bold steps to combine the idea-to-shelf process in a facility that is environmentally friendly and technologically savvy. This facility will have the people and space needed to essentially change the industry.”
Vobev specialises in producing aluminum cans for a variety of beverage suppliers. Aluminum is the most recycled product in the U.S. and is a better alternative to plastic and glass bottles.
