In order to further scale production to meet growing consumer needs Alvinesa Natural Ingredients has announced it will acquire Cades Panedes. The latter company is the leading Catalonial manufacturer of grape-derived sustainable ingredients located in Panedes, a wine-producing region in Spain.
The wine grapes from Cades Panedes are don’t require the use of pesticide and contain higher levels of polyphenols, which are micronutrients with antioxidant properties. Alvinesa will then upcycle the wine grape, and other plant-based coproducts into valuable natural ingredients. Its product lines are utilised in food, beverage, nutrition and wine-making industries.
With the additional facilities from this Cades Panedes, Alvinesa stands to increase its manufacturing capacity by 20%. Cades Panedes will also help diversify Alvinesa’s supply chain, in addition to the no- and low-pesticide pomace it already procures from Castilla-La Mancha and Catalonia wine regions.
“We are excited to welcome the Cades Penedes team into the Alvinesa family. The addition of their excellent grape raw materials supports our mission to provide our customers with unsurpassed quality, top-performing plant-based ingredients that are produced in the most sustainable and environmentally friendly way. This acquisition further strengthens our ability to support the product development and consumer marketing needs of the global nutrition, food and beverage product sectors,” said Alvinesa Chief Executive Officer Jordi Ferre.
“We look forward to joining the Alvinesa team and contributing to the company’s global ingredients expansion. We share the same values, commitment and passion for sustainability, the agriculture circular economy and delivering grape-based ingredients of outstanding quality. We’re excited to get started,” said Jordi Julia, General Manager of Cades Penedes.
