Annual International Awards Program Recognizes Innovation in Agricultural & Food Technologies Around the Globe

Chunk Foods, a cutting-edge brand creating whole cuts from plants, has been announced as the Plant-Based Meat Product of the Year winner in the 4th annual AgTech Breakthrough Awards. AgTech Breakthrough, a leading market intelligence organization that recognizes the top companies, technologies, and products in the global agricultural and food technology markets, conducts this international awards program.

Chunk’s mission is to make plant-based eating accessible and enjoyable for all by creating delicious and nutritious whole cuts. The products are incredibly versatile and boast one of the cleanest labels in its category, crafted with just a handful of familiar ingredients, free from preservatives, thickeners, or binders.

A long-term solution to the issues faced by the animal agricultural industry, Chunk’s technology offers major advantages for scaling up and manufacturing, better control of the product’s properties, conservation of natural resources and competitive unit economics. The mission of the annual AgTech Breakthrough Awards program is to conduct the industry’s most comprehensive analysis and evaluation of agricultural and food technology categories. Last year’s winner for the plant-based category was Impossible Foods, marking the magnitude of the prestigious award.

This year’s program attracted more than 1,750 nominations from around the world. Chunk Foods’ unparalleled plant-based whole-cut meat topped the Food Replacement Tech category.

“This award from AgTech Breakthrough truly validates the continued efforts and focus we are putting into our proprietary, sustainable process and meeting the rising expectations for a game-changing product with great taste,” says Amos Golan, Chunk’s Founder and CEO. “We are humbled to have been named the best in the category. Shifting away from industrial animal agriculture is one of the greatest challenges of our time and there is a high demand for delicious and affordably priced plant-based whole cuts. This is exactly the need that Chunk Foods is serving.”

“Congratulations to Chunk Foods for being our pick for the coveted ‘Plant-Based Meat Product of the Year’ award. Not only does their proprietary solid-state fermentation process create a better-tasting product, but it also allows for the use of less resources like water and energy, as well as less waste. The technology also offers advantages for scaling up and manufacturing,” said Bryan Vaughn, Managing Director, AgTech Breakthrough.

“There’s a growing demand for sustainable and healthy protein options, yet existing alternatives have simply not been good enough. Chunk is delivering a product with a deeply satisfying experience, mimicking the texture, color, and taste of traditional meat.”

In addition to this recognition, Chunk Foods also recently raised $15 million in seed funding, the biggest seed round ever for an Israeli plant-based company, to build one of the largest plant-based whole cuts factories in the world. Chunk recently made headlines by making history as the first plant-based steak served at a traditional steakhouse chain, Charley’s Steak Houses, in Orlando and Tampa.

Chunk’s products are also served at New York City’s finest establishments, including Willow, Delice & Sarrasin, and bicoastal hotspot, The Butcher’s Daughter. The company has major growth plans and the capacity to produce millions of steaks annually, of which most have been pre-sold. Poised to outcompete animal agriculture in terms of price, scale and efficiency, Chunk is changing the industry one bite at a time.
