Dutch ingredient manufacture Fooditive Group has introduced the first ever vegan casein powder for the food and beverage industry. This animal-free dairy protein is created using precision fermentation and can be adopted in cow milk alternative products.
Casein is the main protein found in milk that gives it its unique taste, texture and functionality. Fooditive was able to recreate this ingredient without using animals that delivers similar taste as traditional dairy milk. This vegan casein can be integrated in other dairy products, such as yoghurt, cremes and cheese.
“Making healthy and affordable food for everyone means that we simply need to target every aspect of our diet, and animal-free products should definitely be a part of it. Delivering ingredients that have been produced sustainably is the main key to a long-lasting future that can support the growing human population,” said Moayad Abushokhedim, founder and CEO of Fooditive.
“We have been delighted that pioneers and experts in the dairy industry are interested in our vegan casein. We are very much looking forward to seeing the results in all the different applications and work towards revolutionizing the food industry together”, added Moyad Abushokhedim.
The introduction of this innovative ingredient is in line with the Fooditive’s goal of creating better milk for consumers. It aims to eliminate harmful effects of factory farming and help those with lactose intolerance.
