There is a growing interest in alternative meats in the world, which is evident with the number of vegan substitutes of the food item. One company in Japan is attracting the attention of consumers by successfully releasing alternative egg and Yakiniku meat products.

To further their development in the industry, Next Meats Co. is planning to construct an eco-friendly facility which will serve as their one-stop hub for alternative protein products. This factory, which will be based in Niigata, Japan, will house the R&D labs and production lines for their products. Additionally, sustainable technology like solar panels and DX systems will be incorporated, further supporting the push towards sustainability.

For founders Ryo Shirai and Hideyuki Sasaki, the decision to build in Niigata is to contribute to the growing alternative meat industry in the city. This factory will be the first of its kind in Japan.

The venture is also looking into epigenetics and how this field can further the innovation in alternative meat products, and partnering with solutions providers as well.

Based in Tokyo, Next Meats Co. is a food-tech venture company that specialises in the research and development of Japanese-style alternative meat products.
