One of the world’s four major culinary awards, the A.A. Taste Awards, recently announced the winners of its ninth edition. Despite the gradual fading of the pandemic, consumer emphasis on health issues has continued to grow, driving more brands to develop delicious foods that are minimally processed. In order to further promote the industry’s commitment to sustainability and health, the A.A. Taste Awards has added a new category, BEST 100, starting from the ninth edition. This category focuses on brands or products that represent significant achievements and innovations in various regions for the year. The final winners of this category have also been announced.

This edition saw a noticeable increase in entries from the Asian region, indicating the rising trend of minimal additives in Asia. Japan’s Kaishin-Miyagi, known for its miso-yuzu-marinated fish using the finest seafood, and Indonesia’s Pod Chocolate (Junglegold Bali), the world’s first 100% plant-based chocolate factory, both received two stars for their distinctive and pure flavors. Taiwanese brands also excelled, with Namchow, known for its introduction of world-class frozen equipment and the development of additive-free frozen noodles, winning multiple tasty awards.

Uni-President, familiar to health-conscious consumers for its sugar-free black soybean milk and sugar-free soy milk that balance nutrition and taste, also received a three-star honor. Hong Kong’s popular restaurant “Milk Cafe” with its Butter Palmier & Black Sesame Palmier and Vietnam’s Arno Frozen Snow Daifuku, which joined the competition this year, also achieved success. The Asian region’s emphasis on the purity, ingredients, and sources of food has brought about a diverse range of outstanding results.

The debut of BEST 100 aims to encourage international brands and products that demonstrate innovation and make significant contributions during the year. These brands have provided a positive impact on the industry, improved taste and experiences, offered healthier choices, and greatly contributed to sustainability.

The ninth edition’s winners include Bao London, known for bringing Taiwanese street food to prominence in the UK, Pukka Herbs, an organic herbal tea brand dedicated to reducing carbon emissions, and Toast Ale, which brews “planet-saving beer” from surplus bread. By recognizing the pioneering achievements of these brands, the A.A. Taste Award s hopes to drive the global industry towards sustainability and goodness.

As we bid farewell to the pandemic, the 9th A.A. Taste Awards will return as a physical event. It will not only take place at the Tate Modern in London, United Kingdom, but will also collaborate with charity by partnering with The Royal Academy of Culinary Arts to support its Adopt a School program. The 9th A.A. Taste Awards is set to take place on September 28th in London, bringing together award winners, industry professionals, and influencers from around the world to explore the latest food trends, share the glory of winning, and celebrate the grand event of the food and beverage industry focusing on sustainability, health, and pure cuisine.
