With Gen Z consumers buying more wellness products than any other generation, the company will spotlight its industry-leading application expertise in proteins, prebiotics and more

FrieslandCampina Ingredients , a global leader in protein and prebiotics, will return to Vitafoods Europe (14-16 May) in Geneva, Switzerland, with a new range of consumer-focused concepts designed to galvanise development of on-trend nutrition products. With Gen Z and Millennials spending more on health and wellness than older consumers, the company will highlight the growing opportunity to create stand-out solutions that meet consumer needs on booth A106.

To inspire innovation, FrieslandCampina Ingredients will highlight its recently launched Biotis® DHA Flex Powders for creating appealing food, drinks and supplements with the multifunctional health benefits of omega-3s. Attendees can also experience the company’s innovative Biotis® Fermentis – a first-of-its-kind solution combining the benefits of whey protein, prebiotic galacto-oligosaccharides (Biotis® GOS) and probiotic cultures by fermenting them together – in a new ready-to-drink (RTD) concept.

Inspiring Omega-3 innovation that meets consumer needs

Omega-3s – especially docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) – are well understood for providing multifaceted benefits, including supporting brain, eye and cardiovascular health, as well as recovery from exercise. Despite this, global intake remains low. FrieslandCampina Ingredients will spotlight its brand-new, algae-based, microencapsulated Biotis® DHA Flex Powders at Vitafoods Europe, demonstrating how brands can create best-in-class food, drinks and supplements in vegan or vegetarian formats that meet consumer needs to support DHA intake.

Speaking on the new ingredient range, Sophie Zillinger Molenaar, Global Marketing Lead Biotis® at FrieslandCampina Ingredients, said, “As well as delivering a consistently high DHA load, we have encapsulated the plant-based algal oil in a powder matrix to deliver superior sensory properties compared to traditional omega-3 ingredients. It also includes a high dose of vitamin C for an extra immune health claim. This new ingredient range will help us offer nutrition brands even more flexibility when it comes to formulating applications with multiple, on-trend health benefits – helping brands meet a wider range of consumer needs and preferences.”

Sophie Zillinger Molenaar will host a talk on these innovative new ingredients at 4pm on 14 May in the New Ingredients Theatre. Attendees can also learn more about Biotis® DHA Flex Powders in the New Product Zone and on the Cognitive & Emotional Health tour.

Target the gut-muscle axis with Biotis® Fermentis

Consumers increasingly understand that exercise and looking after their gut health can unlock multiple health benefits, such as improved mental well-being. At the same time, there is growing awareness that intensive exercise, stress and dietary habits can cause gut discomfort that affects sports performance. To help brands create solutions that meet athletic, but gut-conscious consumers’ needs, FrieslandCampina Ingredients will showcase Biotis® Fermentis. The first-of-its-kind solution combines the benefits of protein, prebiotics, and probiotic cultures via fermentation to effectively target the gut-muscle axis. Attendees can discover how the solution can deliver multiple health benefits, including gut and muscle support, by sampling delicious shakes and RTD concepts on stand A106.

Crafting consumer-first concepts

“Nutrition takes many forms, but today’s consumers have three non-negotiables when it comes to buying food, drinks and supplements: efficacy, taste and convenience. And why should they have to compromise?” says Vicky Davies, Global Marketing Director Performance, Medical and Active Nutrition at FrieslandCampina Ingredients.

“Whether it’s delivering omega-3s in a vegetarian-friendly drink, supercharging sports nutrition with high performance proteins and prebiotics, or overcoming texture challenges in plant-protein snacks, our unrivalled application expertise can help you meet the demands of the fast-paced nutrition market. This year, we’re highlighting how our newest ingredients can be used to build on-trend products that tick consumers’ boxes. As your application partner for proteins, prebiotics and more, we’re looking forward to showcasing our latest RTD, bar and gummy concepts so together, we can help consumers get the most out of life, always.”
